History

Many humanitarian projects are born out of a felt need as is true of  LIGHT, the Lay Institute for Global Health Training. As a health  educator who has traveled much of the world over the past three decades, I have seen many advances in developing countries except in the area of  preventive medicine. In 2005 two experimental training programs were field-tested in a Western European and a Central Asian country to find  practical ways to address this challenge. The success of these programs encouraged us to organize LIGHT to more seriously expand these services worldwide. Through the help of various ministry leaders such as Outpost Centers International, ASI, and Wildwood Lifestyle Center and Hospital, LIGHT was developed.  In 2008 ASI, under the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, accepted LIGHT as an official member organization.
